Jihyeon Jeong, known as Ji, is a DPhil student at the Environmental Change Institute, focusing on the geospatial modeling of climate change impacts on global energy infrastructure. His research aims to inform decision-making for climate resilience in the energy transition. Ji’s work includes assessing climate hazard exposure of renewable energy assets, prioritizing climate resilience measures, and applying global resilience assessments to specific contexts. This comprehensive approach bridges global assessments with localized applications, guiding adaptation decisions with geospatially informed, evidence-based insights.
Originally from South Korea, Ji has over 13 years of professional experience in environmental and climate finance and the urban infrastructure sectors. He is currently a Senior Operations Officer at the Global Environment Facility and has previously served as a Data and Knowledge Management Specialist at the Green Climate Fund for 7 years. Ji’s diverse experience also includes roles with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Army, as well as short-term positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations Secretariat.
Ji holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Yonsei University, South Korea, and a master’s degree in urban planning specializing in urban analytics and international development from Columbia University, USA. He has been a certified urban planner by The American Institute of Certified Planners since 2020.
