Qinhan Zhu is a researcher of the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and a Part-time DPhil student of Oxford University. His work mainly focuses on climate risk finance. Specifically, he develops macroeconomic models to identify cost (both direct and opportunity cost) and (co)benefits (economic and health) of climate adaptation and provide support on fiscal policy making for national governments in the Global South to foster their climate-resilient development. Furthermore, he collaborates closely with international financial institutions and projects, such as the World Bank and the Global Shield-Solutions Platform (GSSP), to design climate finance products and facilitate investment in these developing countries for the avoidance and minimization of losses and damages due to climate change. Currently, he is leading research projects on this topic for the governments of Madagascar, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
