Vacancy - Global infrastructure risk and resilience analyst

We are seeking a Global Infrastructure Risk and Resilience Analyst within the Oxford Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (OPSIS), which has recently been awarded several new research projects with the aim of developing advanced infrastructure systems analytics throughout the world. OPSIS is a dynamic and innovative research team, with important links with government, industry and the international academic community. OPSIS has a strong sense of identity and is widely regarded for its innovative contributions in systems modelling, risk analysis and infrastructure policy. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high profile projects with the potential to have major impact, both in research terms and upon policy and practice.

You will be responsible for geospatial analysis of infrastructure assets and networks at national and global scales. The analysis is intended to provide new theoretical and applied insights into the structure and vulnerability of global networks, and the potential consequences of failure for supply chains, economies and societies. You will be expected to publish your research work in the peer-reviewed literature and interact with partners in international organisations, governments and industry to disseminate the research.

You will be a highly motivated researcher with the capacity to make rapid progress in a challenging area of systems analysis and modelling. You must have a PhD (or be near to completion) or equivalent research experience in a related field. You will have experience of quantified systems simulation modelling, network analysis and/or risk analysis, coded in high-level programming languages. You will have experience of integrating heterogeneous models and datasets in systems analysis and of obtaining and processing big geospatial infrastructure datasets for risk analysis and decision support.

This is a full-time post for 24 months.
