A new tool developed by the universities of Oxford and Southampton reveals how future growth in trade might be affected by extreme climate impacts. A regional climate resilience assessment warns that this must be taken into account when planning new infrastructure in East Africa.

Congratulations to Robyn Haggis, member of Oxford Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (OPSIS), Nature-based Solutions Initiative (NbSI), and DPhil student at Oxford University Environmental Change Institute, who has been awarded a one-year Fellowship with the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

The OPSIS team, headed up by Professor Jim Hall, are speaking at eight COP27 events in Egypt, sharing their expertise and research on subjects from more resilient transport networks to cascading risks, and modelling multi-hazard risks.

In our recent paper, we use a coupled simulation model to assess the reliability of public water supplies in England, in the context of changing scenarios of water demand, water regulation and climate change.
